Pha Taem National Park
(Ubon Ratchathani)

Famous for strange-shaped sandstone formations and pre-historic paintings, Pha Taem National Park houses more than 300 samples of such ancient art which date back over 4,000 years. Pha Taem's rock paintings make up one of the largest collections in the world.
Located on the easternmost border, the park is where one can see the sun rise before anywhere else in the country. For the best views, stand on Chanadai Cliff and face the mountains of Laos and the Mekong River.
The rainy season is a good time to visit Pha Taem. It's the time when the park's waterfalls like Namtok Soi Sawan, Namtok Thung Na Muang and Namtok Saeng Chan are most beautiful. However, some might prefer the period from October to November when wild flowers are in bloom in many parts of the park.
