Amphawa Community
(Samut Songkram)

For centuries, Thai's have set up communities alongside canals, and Amphawa is a fine example of that. A booming center of homestays, visitors are drawn in by the afternoon market, and the opportunity to spot fireflies at night.
The place doesn't just offer peace within this sleepy town's rural atmosphere, but also plenty of food and shopping in the Amphawa weekend floating market. You can also catch palatable Thai mackerel if you stay in one of the fishing communities along the Mae Khlong River. One of the definite highlights in Amphawa is to cruise along the canal and watch fireflies at night.
The Amphawa community is also blessed with a variety of tropical fruits year-long_ the lychee harvest finishes just as the mango season starts, while banana, coconut and pomelo grow all year, as do jack fruit, betel nut and rose apple. Amphawa is also a base to hop to nearby floating markets like Thakha floating and Bang Noi.
